The testimony of the New Testament concerning the Eucharist is both extremely limited and, by its nature, difficult to interpret. It is limited because the only explicit accounts of the Lord’s Supper which have reached us are found in a few verses of the Gospels (Mk. 14:17–26; Mt. 26:20–30; Lk. 22:14–23) and the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians (11:23–26).
